From Dark to Light

While driving back to Colorado, taking the southern route through Arizona and New Mexico, I was the designated driver from about 1:00 AM to 7:00 AM. While everyone else was snoring I was formulating thoughts for the following poem...

Differing shades of black, blue and purple pervade the desert as the bright, full moon shines down on the almost barren sand below. The ever changing shadows coming from the few succulents and plants but mostly from the many shapes and sizes of rocks and sand dunes.

The velvet, black ribbon of highway cutting the silver-gray sand of the moonlit desert into the different shades of black, mountains slowly change into dark blue then dark purple, majestic mountains surrounded by the numberless grains of cream colored sand, that as yet look untouched by modern man and his many invetions.

The lesser light of the full moon goes down over the mountains. Through the greater, brighter, beautiful sunrise sky of blue, pink and orange we can see the hand of our Heavenly Father's work. The waterfalls roughly pouring down the side of a rocky mountain, cascading by the many greens of the different evergreen and deciduous trees, spilling into the crystal clear pool in the meadowed valley at the foot of the mountain.

A true testimony of the love our Heavenly Father has for us by allowing us to not only view but to live in this masterpiece of art - never to be outdone by any artist born to this earth.
