When Christopher was in school studying poetry I would do the assignment with him to keep up with and continue to work on my writing. This was one of a number of poems written during that time...the assignment was to make a list of words and write a poem using those words. My list was "colors".
Love pure and white in its truest form allows
Small pink buds of new love to grow into
Mature red blossoms of the greatest love
Known between a man and a woman - shown by
A simple, eternal, silver band
The skies may not always be blue
Gray clouds of reality may try to depress us
But we'll outline those clouds with the orange-gold &
Pinkish-orange rays of the sun - our love
To keep the grass - our life - the greenest green
The flowers - our family and friends
The many colors of the rainbow to be kept
Bright and alive not only by our love
For each other and life but by the power of
The pure, white love of Christ.
